    Tenure Track Faculty Position

The University of Washington Information School (UW iSchool) is seeking an individual to broaden and deepen our research and scholarship in any topics relevant to Information Schools. We seek a creative, collaborative, and forward-thinking individual to join our faculty and help create the future of information-related research and learning. The individual should have a track record and commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and learning. The individual should be excited by, able to thrive in, and eager to contribute to a diverse, intellectually stimulating, multi-disciplinary environment that respects a wide variety of research traditions and methods.

We encourage applications from individuals from any area related to the information field that will complement, strengthen, and extend our existing programs. While acknowledging the traditions of the disciplines that make up the iSchool movement, the UW iSchool recognizes the emergence of new strands of design and inquiry within the general areas encompassed by information, technology, and people. Consequently, we welcome applications from outstanding scholars who are exploring beyond the traditional boundaries of areas related to the information school movement.

Our new colleague will join a broad-based, inclusive community of scholars, students, and staff dedicated to sustaining leadership in the dynamic and growing information school movement. Faculty members teach across programs, and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Candidates should show a commitment to bridging research and practice. This will be a full-time 9 month appointment anticipated at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree by date of appointment.

Review of applications will begin October 15, 2012, and will continue until the position is filled. Selected candidates will be invited for campus visits. The University of Washington is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer. The University is building a culturally diverse faculty and staff and strongly encourages applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and covered veterans.
