As you finalize your Academy plans we want to inform you of a PDW on the Giving Voice to Values (GVV) case method, developed and delivered by a collaborative group of scholars and schools integrating GVV into the curriculum. Here are the details:
Lessons Learned on the Front Line: Working with the "Giving Voice to Values" Case Method
Scheduled: Program Session #298; Saturday, Aug 4 2012 11:15AM - 1:15PM
Location: Sloan School of Business at MIT. Building E62, Room 233
This PDW is based on the innovative Giving Voice to Values (GVV) (Gentile, 2008) curriculum and designed as a 'train the trainer' workshop for facilitating a GVV case study. The GVV curriculum is an applied approach to the study and practice of ethics that focuses on empowering participants to act on their values when they encounter a values conflict. It has been used in over 250 schools on five continents (including Harvard, INSEAD and MIT) and is well received by students because of its practical and action-oriented approach.
When faculty and/or consultants hear about the GVV philosophy and the open-source resources (which include foundational readings, case-studies and instructor notes) they are eager to use the curriculum. However given the breadth of material and the innovativeness of the approach, the opportunity to work with faculty who have been piloting this approach for several years is valuable. Participants in this workshop will gain practical knowledge in how to facilitate a GVV case by drawing on the core elements of the curriculum. The session will deliver teaching tips, sample handouts and a detailed example lesson plan. This intention is not to be prescriptive with how to teach GVV cases, but rather to provide basic scaffolding for engaging with the GVV case method. The session will be facilitated by academics that have worked intensely with the GVV curriculum in both academic and corporate settings and are eager to share lessons learned and enable others to successfully experiment with GVV.
