Dear ONErs and SIMians,
I'm writing to bring your attention to a new MBA case competition at York
University's Schulich School of Business, which I was hoping you would
circulate to your students. It's a great opportunity to engage your
students in sustainability issues in business, and in the mining industry
specifically.
On November 25th and 26th, Schulich will host the inaugural Schulich
International Case Competition (SICC) with a focus on sustainability in the
mining industry, with the support of Schulich Executive in Residence and
former CEO of Inmet Mining, Richard Ross. SICC 2011 participants will have
the opportunity to examine the complex sustainability challenges facing the
mining sector today. As sustainability issues and their associated risks
increasingly shape the discourse around mining and extractives, developing
a solid understanding and familiarity of this landscape will be a valuable
experience for future business leaders.
This case competition will bring 20 teams from top MBA schools together
with sustainability professionals and top industry executives to advance
the discussion on these challenging issues. This is an outstanding
opportunity for students to compete on a truly global stage amidst leaders
in one of the world's most important and controversial industries.
Registration is now open on our website and admission will be offered on a
rolling basis. Your help in promoting this event to interested students
would be very much appreciated.
For more details about this event and the application process, visit our
website,
