    Dear SIM colleagues,

For those involved in teaching business ethics at the undergrad level, please consider sending your student team for the following ethics case competition...

Dalhousie Business Ethics Case Competition (DBECC) 2010

DBECC is an annual, student-run case competition that attracts teams from Universities across North America. In 2010, the three day competition will take place from November 11th – 13th, at picturesque Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The competition includes three rounds of case competition, featuring cases that are written specifically for this event, and that focus on ethical issues currently facing society.  The event also hosts guest speakers and provides networking events and galas.

DBECC 2009 hosted 10 schools including: The University of Florida, Arizona University, Purdue University, Indiana University, Simon Fraser University, University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, Memorial University, Ryerson University and Dalhousie University.

Registration is on a first-come first-served basis. Each school may only send one team, and each team must be comprised of four students currently enrolled in an undergraduate business program, and an advisor and/or faculty coach (optional).

The cost per team is CAD $1000, and must be paid at the time of registration. This fee covers all expenses incurred while in Halifax, with the exception of the team's transportation between the hotel and the Halifax International Airport. As well, costs associated with transportation to and from Halifax are the responsibility of the team.

    Specifically, the fee includes:

    • Three (3) nights accommodation based on Quad Occupancy
    • All meals during the event, including the Opening Ceremonies Dinner, the Keynote Dinner and the Awards Gala
    • Transportation within Halifax during the course of the event
    • All case materials and delegate information packages
    • Social activities

As DBECC Chair 2010, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share this one of a kind case competition across North America.
