Ten Years of Daring to Care:
The UN Global Compact (2000-2010) –
What Has Been Achieved?
(Panel Symposium, Sponsors SIM and ONE)
We hope you will join us for this SIM/ONE Symposium to discuss and reflect on the last decade of the UN Global Compact. The Symposium is scheduled for: Monday, Aug 9 2010 9:45AM - 11:15AM at The Queen Elizabeth in Hochelaga 6
ABSTRACT: Looking back at the last ten years of the Global Compact (2000-2010), this panel symposium brings together four scholars who will discuss the achievements, problems and current challenges of the initiative. The discussion is structured around three main issue areas: (1) a retrospective assessment of achievements and problems of the Global Compact, (2) a prospective view into the future and discussion of needed institutional reforms, and (3) a reflection of the current context in which the Global Compact operates, particularly considering the challenges created by the recent economic downturn. While discussing these issue areas, the audience is invited to challenge the perspectives introduced by the panelists and to engage in an exchange of ideas to help contrasting the Global Compact's achievements with its problems.
PANELISTS: Sandra Waddock (Boston College), James E. Post (Boston University), Malcolm McIntosh (Griffith University), Andreas Rasche (University of Warwick)
The Symposium is designed in an interactive manner. We hope to engage the audience in a critical conversation on the past, present and future of the Global Compact and UN-business relations.
