Social Issues in Management Division 2011 Doctoral Consortium
Academy of Management annual meeting, San Antonio, Texas
August 11 and 12, 2011
Co-chairs:
Harry Van Buren, University of New Mexico, VanBuren@mgt.unm.edu
Jill Brown, Lehigh University, jgb207@Lehigh.EDU
All doctoral students working in the general area of social issues in management (SIM)-including but not limited to business ethics, corporate social responsibility, business and government-are invited to apply to participate in the Academy of Management 2011 Social Issues in Management Division doctoral consortium. In addition to students who focus on social issues in management research, students whose primary research area is outside of SIM but who also emphasize social issues (e.g., ethics or business and society relations) in their work are welcome. SIM has a history of encouraging cross-fertilization with scholars from other divisions.
The theme of this year's consortium is "Managing Relationships," which includes relationships with one's dissertation committee, colleagues, research collaborators, journal editors, and families. The consortium begins on Thursday evening (August 11, starting at 5:30 pm) and ends on Friday at 6:00 pm.
Please complete this form and save it using your last name and "SIM consortium application" (example: Van Buren SIM consortium application). Email the completed form AND a one-page abstract of either your dissertation research or other research that is in progress (this information is used to match you with a faculty member for lunch) to both Jill Brown (jgb207@lehigh.edu) and to Harry Van Buren (vanburen@mgt.unm.edu). Also, please have your nominating faculty member email a one-paragraph recommendation to both Jill and Harry at the addresses above. We will confirm receipt of your application and the nominating faculty member's recommendation, and will also send accepted applicants registration information and additional logistical details. Applications are due by June 30, 2011. As we will be doing rolling admissions, earlier applications are strongly encouraged.
Please contact either Jill or Harry with any questions. We look forward to your participation!
