A new paper: INVITATION TO EDEN

To Friends, Fellow Scholars, Admired Executives, and Others who inhabit the vast electronic ether of the Internet:

INVITATION TO EDEN is a new paper about corporate strategy, and it may be found on my website www.williamcfrederick.com  by clicking on PURE BILL.  Or just click on the title below.

It is my attempt to clarify the meaning and purpose of corporate strategy by using two unique approaches.  For anyone who wonders how the natural sciences might be used to understand strategy (or any other business function), this paper is a primer that you may find useful as a guide.  For all others (really most of us) who ponder the normative significance of what corporations do, the paper's title provides a hint.  This blend of science with a pretty well-known Biblical narrative is my way of tweaking your imagination to encourage exploration beyond the usual fare one finds in academic journals.  The style is friendly and accessible, and the paper has been vetted by a few CEOs, consultants, and academic experts.  If you do read the paper – it's in two parts, Eden I and Eden II – I hope you will e-mail me your thoughts about it.  You and your students may download a copy for classroom or seminar use, or cite it by reference to the website.

    Best wishes to all,

    Bill
