Dear SIM friends,
Just a final reminder to encourage your submissions to the SIM Division for the 2015 Academy of Management Meetings, held August 7-11 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 13.
From this year's Call for Submissions:
The SIM Division is a research community actively examining business ethics, stakeholder engagement and relationships, social entrepreneurship, environmental management, base-of-the-pyramid activities, corporate responsibility, workplace diversity, corporate governance, business-government relations, corporate political strategy, corruption, and corporate philanthropy, among other topics. SIM Division members engage in theory building and theory testing to understand the impacts, interactions, institutional settings, and issues that shape managerial and organizational decision-making. SIM Division members seek to understand responsible behavior and contributions (or lack thereof) to the greater good at the individual, stakeholder, organizational, and trans-organizational levels. We also seek to understand how stakeholders and societies define responsible organizational behavior and how such definitions change over time. Further, we study international impacts with regard to whether, how, and under what conditions managerial, organizational, and trans-organizational responses to social concerns vary based on national and local context, customs, traditions, and beliefs.
While I encourage everyone to sign up to be a SIM reviewer, I particularly encourage you to sign up as a reviewer if you are submitting a paper or symposium proposal to the SIM Division, as that will help assure that we have enough reviewers this year. Reviewers need to sign up by January 13 in order to facilitate timely assignment of papers to review.
From this year's Call for Reviewers:
To sign up as a Reviewer:
· Go to http://aom.org/annualmeeting/review/ and complete the information requested.
· Designate the Social Issues in Management (SIM) Division when asked for Divisions or Interest Groups.
· Select keywords that best describe your areas of interest and expertise so that we assign you appropriate submissions for review.
The Timeline: By January 21, you'll receive no more than three papers or symposia to review. The Program Chair will provide some reviewing guidelines and tips to help you keep your review focused on elements critical for determining whether to accept a submission for the Program. Reviews are due by February 19.
The full Call for Submissions and the full Call for Reviewers is attached to this email.
Warm regards,
Jamie Hendry
2015 SIM Program Chair
