7th Annual Academic Research Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility
July 14-15, 2015 - University of Washington Tacoma

    Tacoma, WA, USA

The Center for Leadership & Social Responsibility at the Milgard School of Business - University of Washington Tacoma is hosting its 7th annual research conference on Good Business. This conference aims to showcase cutting edge scholarship on a range of topics.

CSR | Socially Responsible Investing | Social Entrepreneurship | Sustainability | Citizenship | New Business Forms | Governance Corporate Philanthropy | Social Reporting | Impact Investing | Hybrid Organizations

This conference provides a forum for shaping future research in these areas and a venue to present and discuss current research in a field we are generally referring to as 'good business'. Scholars from multiple disciplines, using all relevant methods, are invited to submit research papers or proposals to the conference.

    Interdisciplinary Topics

Businesses are increasingly expected to make positive contributions to society, and those contributions take many different forms. This conference focuses on research examining all aspects of what it means to be a 'good business.'

We welcome theoretical and empirical research considering such questions as:

    · How are companies interpreting the expectations of society and responding (or not)?

    · How do they communicate their activities to consumers, shareholders, funders, employees and other stakeholders?

    · How do stakeholders respond?

    · How do businesses measure and evaluate what they are doing?

    · How does doing good affect the business and its success?

    · What impact are good businesses having on communities, the environment and society as a whole?

Established scholars and doctoral students from disciplines including accounting, finance, economics, management, marketing and related fields are invited to share research perspectives and results. Papers must be submitted and presented in English.

    Submission Types

    1. Research Paper Presentations: This format supports formal presentation of a fully developed manuscript based on original research that is empirical and theoretical. Research paper presentations will be grouped into sessions of 3-4 paper presentations followed by guided discussion with the audience.

    2. Research Briefs: This format supports abbreviated presentation of research that is in development. Research briefs should be submitted in the form of a 2000 word (approximately 8-page) abstract that frames the inquiry and outlines the theory or methods used to investigate it. Research briefs will be presented orally in a roundtable format and accompanied by small group discussion.

    Key Dates

    ·  Due date for submissions: April 1, 2016

    ·  Acceptance advice: May 1, 2016

    ·  Author registration: by June 1, 2016

    · Conference: July 14-15, 2016

    Conference Format

This one-and-a-half-day conference offers a seminar format, and showcases the most current research within the disciplines and allows participants to identify points of intersection across disciplines. To encourage discussion and cross-fertilization of ideas, the conference is deliberately kept small.
