4th AFE - QASS / Samos Conference, Greece

    12-14 July 2007

    Sub-Track Call for papers

THE INTERNATIONALISATION AND GLOBALISATION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    CONTEXTS, OPPORTUNITIES, STRATEGIES

    Track Chairs :

Pr. Jacques-Henri COSTE - Lumière Lyon 2 Université - CERVEPAS Sorbonne-
    France

Pr. Stelios Patsikas - Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus -
    Greece

The environment of entrepreneurship is changing dramatically allowing not
only big firms but also small and medium-sized enterprises to more readily
access customers, financial markets and collaborators around the world.
Entrepreneurship stands now at the intersection of the phenomenon of
globalisation and international business. As a consequence, entrepreneurial
activity understood as innovation spirit and venture creation is becoming
more and more internationalised while still being rooted in local contexts.
We invite papers that analyse the globalisation effects on the patterns, the
financing, the performance but also the governance of entrepreneurship. The
sub-themes addressed in this conference track will describe the increased
internationalisation of entrepreneurship, the emergence of new financial and
measurement paradigms, the rise of innovative networking and support
practices so as to better assess opportunities and strategies. Empirical and
theoretical papers or work-in progress that broaden our understanding of
    international entrepreneurship are welcomed.

    1. INTERNATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN A GLOBALIZING ENVIRONMENT

    - Changes and challenges of the new entrepreneurship environment

    - New framework conditions, key determinants, emerging paradigms

    - Patterns of internationalisation: from domestic to international new
    ventures

    - The internationalisation of SME and the role of regional innovation
    clusters

    - The demographics of entrepreneurship: "born regional or born global?"

    - Cross-sectoral, cross-national and cross-cultural comparisons

    2. THE FINANCING OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    - Venture capital markets and financing mechanisms

    - Credit rationing, liquidity constraints and entrepreneurial choice

    - Access to financial markets, venture capital funds, micro-credit

    - Business angels, capital markets, equity funds, micro finance for business

    3. MEASURING THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    - Performance metrics, risk-assessment and new ventures valuation

    - Growth and survival of start-ups and entrepreneurial firms

    - Networking and entrepreneurial growth: leveraging financial, human, and
    social capital

    - Sectoral, social, gender dimensions of entrepreneurship

    - Development of key-capabilities

    4. THE GOVERNANCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    - Support policies and strategies in cross-cultural perspectives

    - Models of entrepreneurship

    - Towards a transnational enterprise culture? Convergence or Divergence?
