    Dear fellow SIMians,

My sincere apologies, but the call for papers I circulated last week referred to an incorrect timeslot for the session (credit where credit is due: Barry Mitnick spotted this). The information contained in the amended call for papers below is correct.

    All the best,

    Pursey

    Manuscript Development Workshop

Chairs: Pursey Heugens, Erasmus University; Charlene Zietsma, University of Victoria

This PDW is designed to bring together scholars to aid SIM colleagues in their efforts to publish in top management journals. In particular, we have assembled a team of scholars who have been successful at publishing ethics, social responsibility, or social/sustainability-related work in the best management journals, such as AMJ, AMR, ASQ, Org Science, and SMJ. We will pair these experienced scholars with SIM members interested in exploring how specific manuscripts might be developed to meet the publication standards of such top management journals. Applicants to the workshop will submit a paper to the organizers. These papers will then be evaluated by the organizers as to their potential for publication in the top management journals. Once an applicant's paper is accepted, we will assign it to two mentors. Each mentor will receive (ahead of time) proposals/working papers from two separate participants, and have comments ready for them in the session. Because of the nature of the session, we are looking for works-in-progress, so applicants should limit the size of their submissions to no more than 40 pages including references, tables, figures, and so forth.  In the 90-minute workshop, participants and panelists will dig into the papers and ideas, and then work to develop them to their fullest. Toward the end of the session, we will spend 5-10 minutes discussing general "takeaways". We envision a session limited to a maximum of 15-20 papers. The scheduled time and day of the session is from 9:30 am -11 am on Saturday August 13, at the Marriott Rivercenter, Salon B.

Submission of papers is required by June 15, 2011 (send your paper by email to Charlene Zietsma at czietsma@uvic.ca, or Pursey Heugens, at pheugens@rsm.nl). The applications will be screened by the workshop organizers, and participants will be advised as to whether their papers have been accepted by July 1, 2011. Note that this workshop requires pre-registration for participants with accepted papers.

    Pre-registration is required by July 15, 2011.
