Position Description: Frank Shrontz Chair for Professional Ethics
Seattle University's Albers School of Business and Economics invites applications for the Frank Shrontz Chair for Professional Ethics to begin Fall, 2015. The purpose of the Shrontz Chair is to enhance the prestige and visibility of the School as a leader in value and ethical based business leadership education.
The chair holder will be responsible for teaching four sections of business ethics in a three quarter academic year and will direct the Center for Business Ethics. Activities coordinated through the Center include but are not limited to: 1. initiating ethics integration across the business curriculum emphasizing the importance of conversations and giving voice to values; 2. holding ethics-related conferences at three-year intervals; and 3. coordinating meetings of the Northwest Ethics Network – a group of ethics and compliance officers from companies such as Boeing, Cisco, Holland America Line, Microsoft, and Premera Blue Cross. The Center employs two graduate students a year at 40 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding record of scholarship and teaching as well as demonstrated ability to form relationships with local business community leaders, experience organizing and coordinating conferences on ethics topics related to business and economics, and working with business faculty in the development and integration of ethics into the business/economics curriculum. Finally, candidates should support the missions of the center, school and university.
