Dear Simians,
Proudly Made in Africa (PMIA) is a U.K. and Ireland based non-profit organization that promotes the ethical trade of value-added products from Africa to Europe. Rather than promoting the fair trade of commodities, it promotes the fair trade of value added products which garner 3 to 5 times the revenue of unprocessed commodities. You can think of it as taking fair trade to the next level.
PMIA created the PMIA Fellowship program in collaboration with UCD's College of Business about 5 years ago and is seeking a new PMIA Fellow. A sign of the success of this program is that UCD has recently created a full-time faculty position for a professor of Business in Africa that has been taken up by former PMIA Fellow, Dr. Penelope Muzanenhamo. More about the program and role of the PMIA Fellow can be found here -- http://www.proudlymadeinafrica.org/education/UCD-PMIA-Fellowship .
Please see the call for applications in the message below.

We congratulate Penelope on her new role as Assistant Professor in Business in Africa at UCD and are delighted to confirm that she will continue to work closely with the Fellowship in her new capacity.
The new Fellow will continue to build on the excellent work done by our two previous Fellows and promote education on the business environment in Africa and business' role in creating solutions to poverty and global development. | | | | The successful candidate shall have experience in teaching in a third level institution, a strong understanding of business in a developing country context, and a deep appreciation of development issues. Specifically, the Fellow will - Support academic staff in UCD College of Business and other business schools in Ireland to integrate the issues of business and development in Africa into their teaching
- Engage academic staff to jointly produce teaching materials and case studies relevant to the themes
- Teach on the themes at UCD and other business schools in Ireland
- Build links to business colleges in Africa as appropriate.
Based at the UCD College of Business, the Fellow shall report to the Dean of the UCD College of Business (or his nominee) and the Director of Proudly Made in Africa. Working 4.5 days a week, this is a 9-month contract, renewable subject to further funding being secured. Salary shall be based on an annual salary of €50,000, applied pro-rata.
