Few will dispute that rising inequalities are an important social and political (and moral) issue. It is less clear on how to address this issue, specifically what role businesses should play in this regard. Seattle's homelessness crisis, city government's response to address it (partially) by taxing large businesses, and the response of Amazon raises important questions about the responsibility of global firms to local communities in which they function. Here are some brief thoughts:
