    Please kindly post the following job ad. Apologies for cross posting.

    The Amsterdam Business School at the University of Amsterdam is inviting applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position.

    Job description

    We are looking for candidates who take their teaching seriously and have published, or are about to publish, in top-tier international journals, with visibility at major conferences and an active research agenda in the strategy field. We would especially welcome applications from scholars with an interest in behavioral research or technology and strategic innovation. We are particularly interested in ambitious team players who can help us further build our department and ABS more generally. A PhD in management or a related field is a requirement for all positions. The track record of candidates above the level of assistant professor should be consistent with the rank applied for. Please use this link to apply.

    Who we are

    The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) is located in the heart of Amsterdam, the cultural and financial capital of the Netherlands, which offers a cosmopolitan living environment with excellent connections to the rest of the world. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is a broad-based research-driven university dating back to 1632 with an enrolment of over 30,000 students. Rankings by the Times (THES) and QS put UvA in the top 100 universities world-wide. Within UvA, ABS offers executive, graduate and undergraduate programs in accounting, finance, management, marketing and strategy. ABS is triple-crown accredited (AACBS, AMBA, EQUIS). Most of the teaching takes place in small seminar-sized groups.

    The International Strategy & Marketing (ISM) department currently houses around 40 faculty members, in addition to a number of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and affiliated faculty. Since the establishment of ABS, the ISM department has grown substantially, and we anticipate further growth in the future. The department's research programme focuses on strategy, international business, and marketing in the broadest sense. A common, although not exclusive, interest within the department is the role of business in society. Digital business has become an increasingly important topic in both research and education and the department is now building capacity to address related issues such as digital transformation and its consequences for organizational capabilities, learning, and strategy, the broader institutional effects of innovation (such as market creation and transformation), network strategies, and business analytics. The department produces a steady stream of papers in internationally recognized journals, and members of the section have recently published in journals like the Academy of Management Annals, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science, Organization Studies, and Strategic Management Journal.

    What we are looking for

    We are interested in candidates with clear expertise in Strategy who:

    • hold a PhD in Strategy (or be close to finishing);
    • have a clear research portfolio and preferably already (forthcoming) publications in reputable journals;
    • take their teaching seriously with proven ability in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level;
    • are ambitious team players with good ability to work individually and with a team.

    What we offer

    The possibility to join a young, vibrant and very collegial group, and help shape a growing business school at an internationally recognized university that has the ambition to become a leading international player in the field of business research and education.
