Domestic Violence and Organizations: Creating a Dialogue between Practice & Management Studies

Wednesday 13th June, 2018, Macquarie City Campus, Sydney Australia

You are invited to the following workshop to be held immediately prior to the Gender Work and Organization conference GWO2018 in Sydney, Australia in June 2018

The workshop will bring leading and emerging scholars from management and other disciplines to facilitate interdisciplinary global conversations on how the issue of domestic violence is affecting organizations, and how organizations can contribute to addressing this pressing social problem.

The theme of this workshop is domestic violence, work and organizations. Employment is critically important to those affected by domestic violence, as a means to retain independence and self-esteem. Domestic violence also has significant implications for organizations in terms of employee wellbeing and productivity. Special focus is on (a) how organizations can and should support and take responsibility for employees who are victims of domestic violence, (b) how a systematic research approach can be developed to extend empirical studies beyond the Anglo-American context, and (c) how a productive dialogue can be facilitated between researchers and practitioners.

    Keynote speaker: Anne O‑Leary Kelly

Anne is the Senior Associate Dean and the William R. & Cacilia Howard Chair in Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. She is a leading scholar in Intimate Partner Violence and organizations. Her research interests include the study of identity transition and loss, aggressive work behavior (sexual harassment, effects of intimate partner violence on the workplace), and individual entitlement.

Please register your attendance by clicking here and submit your 500 word abstract to Sharon.Collett@mq.edu.au before May 14, 2018. This event is free but all attendees are required to register.
