2013 Academy of Management Annual Meeting, Buena Vista, Florida

    Friday August 9 2013
8:00AM - 10:30AM at WDW Coronado Springs Resort, Room: Coronado T

The CMS Doctoral Consortium offers PhD students at any stage and early career scholars an opportunity to explore ideas, share knowledge and contribute to discussion about critical management studies (CMS) research and education.  The 2013 meeting theme, 'Capitalism in Question', extends a timely invitation to the Academy at large to explore issues that lie at the heart of what it means to belong to the CMS Division.

The CMS Doctoral Consortium provides a great opportunity for critical scholars and educators at all stages of career, from all nationalities and backgrounds, to engage with like minded individuals on a diverse range of topics and issues. This consortium also welcomes students with a primary affiliation to another Division, who see critical scholarship as important.

This Consortium will be held in the morning of Friday August 9. It will include a buffet breakfast. The program will combine interactive panel discussions led by early career scholars and journal editors with the opportunity for one-on-one discussion between doctoral students and senior critical management scholars. CMS members who will be there to talk to and exchange ideas with include:

Bill Cooke, Lancaster UK; Irena Grugulis, Leeds UK; Nancy Harding, Bradford UK; John Jermier, South Florida US; Gavin Jack, La Trobe Australia; Craig Prichard, Massey NZ; Mick Rowlinson, Queen Mary London UK; Sarah Stookey, Central Connecticut US; Rafael Alcadipani, FGV-EAESP, Brazil.

Attendees must pre-register for this workshop as places are limited. The deadline for pre-registration is 1 July 2013.  Places will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Please send a short abstract (500 words max.) outlining your research interest or topic and current stage of research to Rosalie Hilde (rosalieh@shaw.ca) and Scott Taylor (s.taylor@bham.ac.uk) Details on how to pre-register will be provided. Students will be paired with a faculty member for a one-on-one discussion of their dissertation work.

We look forward to welcoming you!
