    Dear SIM colleagues,

On March 5, you should receive a mass mailing notice from Academy of
Management that we have opened a candidate nomination website for the
upcoming SIM Division elections (which will open sometime in
April). The website is already activated and available.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SENT NOMINATIONS TO ME, PLEASE DO not RE-ENTER
SUCH NOMINATIONS INTO THIS WEBSITE. If you have made no nominations
and wish to do so now, feel free to use the website for convenience.

I am writing in advance of this mass mailing for two reasons.

    (1) To let you know the nomination website is open until March
    10. You go to http://apps.aomonline.org/divnomination and log in
with name and AOM membership number (let me know if this procedure
does not seem to work, as we are testing this program now). I have
done so and the website appears to be open and operating. There are
three (3) positions open for nominations. One position is program
chair-elect for handling the PDW program in 2008 and then succeeding
as program chair in 2009. (Ann Buchholtz is the present program
chair-elect and Linda Trevino the program chair for
Philadelphia.) The other two positions are representatives at large
in succession to Laquita Blockson (rotating off after 3-year term)
and Patricia Kelley (rotating off after 3-year term).
The continuing reps-at-large and terms of office are:
    2006-09 (elected last year)
Rosa Chun (Manchester Business School, UK)
    Heather Elms (American University)
    2005-08
    Jamie Hendry (Bucknell University)
Pursey Heugens (Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University)

    (2) EXPLANATION: The nomination website is open until March 10 ONLY
because we are just running a test of this pilot program. In future
years, the nomination website should be the standard procedure
throughout AOM. SIM opened its nominations process by email at the
beginning of February. The nominations committee is already working
on slates of candidates, and the election process should be organized
    by the end of March.

SO REITERATION - (A) IF YOU HAVE MADE NOMINATIONS ALREADY, IGNORE
THIS PROCESS (WHICH IS A TEST RUN OF A PILOT PROGRAM FOR FUTURE
YEARS). (B) If you wish to make nominations by March 10, by all
means use this website approach and I will be monitor the information
for use by the nominations committee.

Thanks for your patience, this program was just made available by AOM
and they would like as many divisions as possible at least testing
(if not in fact relying on) the new nominations website tool. The
election itself will be conducted by a similar website tool (as last
year), and you will receive notification when the election ballot
    itself is open for voting.
