Dear SIM colleagues (please let me know at
odw@rice.edu if you
discover any errors in the information below):
The annual SIM election is scheduled to open approximately Monday 16
April and remain open for a month through approximately Friday 18 May
(online through Academy of Management). You should receive
confirmation and instructions from Academy of Management (I believe)
shortly. (The election is run by the Academy, so this information is
tentative.) Please plan to vote (online). Generally the ballot is
organized as follows (with a write-in option for each position):
Division Chair: Tom Donaldson is the recommended candidate (advancing
from division chair - elect).
Division Chair - Elect: Linda Trevino is the recommended candidate
(advancing from program chair).
Program Chair: Ann Buchholtz is the recommended candidate (advancing
from program chair - elect).
Program Chair - Elect (Professional Development Workshop Chair,
advancing in future years to Program Chair and Division Chair): there
are 3 candidates proposed by the SIM nominations committee (in
alphabetical order), and you may vote for only 1 person -
Stephen Brammer
Pursey Heugens
Barry Mitnick
Write-In
Representatives-at-Large (3-year terms, 2007-2010): there are 6
candidates proposed by the SIM nominations committee (in alphabetical
order), and you may (and should) vote for up to 2 (there are 2 positions open):
Andrew Crane
Jonathan Doh
Jeffrey Frooman
Douglas May
Lori Ryan
Douglas Schuler
Write-In
For the contested positions, you should find for each candidate a
description statement and a photograph (online).
The outgoing representatives-at-large (completing 3-year terms) are
Laquita Blockson and Patricia Kelley. The SIM governing body thanks
both for their service.
The continuing reps-at-large and terms of office are:
2006-09 (elected last year)
Rosa Chun (Manchester Business School, UK)
Heather Elms (American University)
2005-08
Jamie Hendry (Bucknell University)
Pursey Heugens (Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University)
If Pursey Heugens should be elected to the program chair - elect
position, then the top 3 candidates in the representative-at-large
election would be elected to the SIM governing board.
The SIM nominations committee thanks all individuals who were
nominated for these positions, but were not selected for the slates;
and also all individuals who participated in the nominating process
(either directly to the nominations committee or through the new
Academy of Management online nominating device).
