Apologies for cross-postings
The Social Issues in Management Division is now accepting applications for the 2016 Academy of Management Doctoral Consortium to be held at the Academy of Management meeting in Anaheim, CA. The Consortium will bring together doctoral students and more than 30 experienced SIM faculty to discuss opportunities and challenges in the field.
The Consortium will begin at 5pm on Thursday, August 4th, with a kickoff Author's Workshop where Professor R. Edward Freeman of the Darden School at the University of Virginia will discuss his research and career in academia in an interview with scholar Michael Johnson (Bucknell University). Dinner will follow. On Friday the 7th, the Consortium will begin at 8:00am and finish at 6pm. The program will include panels and discussions on success in the classroom, success in completing the dissertation, success with co-authors, success in publishing, and a host of other topics. Students will also receive detailed and constructive feedback on their work from an accomplished scholar in the field.
To apply, please complete the application form, available on the AoM SIM Division website at http://sim.aomonline.org/DC/SIM_DC_Application_2016.docx
or contact Co-Chairs Shawn Berman (sberman@unm.edu) or Katherina Pattit (glac6548@stthomas.edu). The application should be accompanied by a one-page abstract of dissertation or research in progress as well as a one-paragraph recommendation by a nominating faculty member.
Applications are due by June 30, 2016.
Note that we will be doing rolling admissions, so it is advisable to apply early as the number of participants is limited. Last year we had to turn away several people who applied during the last week. To ensure that space constraints do not affect your application, we recommend applying by June 1 at the latest.
Please note: Acceptance into the consortium is via application only. Once a student is admitted, he/she will receive a PDW registration number to formally register on the AoM website.
We look forward to hearing from you!
