    Fellow SIMians,

First, my apologies if you receive a number of related messages from
various listservers today, I'm trying to reach a diverse range of
stakeholders that somewhat overlap in their memberships.

My goal in contacting you is to bring to your attention the approaching
deadline for submissions for the 2011 International Association for
Business & Society (IABS) conference, which I have the pleasure of hosting
in Bath, England, next June. Submissions of abstracts and proposals are
due on December 6th - FOUR WEEKS FROM TODAY.

The conference theme - Modern Slavery - is likely, I hope, to be of
interest to many SIMians, and is particularly appropriate to our location.
Bath, and to a greater extent nearby Bristol, both benefited substantially
from the atlantic slave trade. At the same time, as numerous anecdotal
sources show, slavery is far from a historical phenomenon. I would
particularly welcome contributions that address the conference theme.

In addition to submissions that address the theme, I welcome and encourage
submissions on the varied themes that characterise the lively scholarly
conversation at IABS - stakeholder theory and management, business ethics,
ecological, sustainable and environmental thinking, governance, business-
government relations, corporate responsibility, corporate social
performance, and comparative and international business ethics, among many
    others.

Further information about the conference can be found on the IABS website:

    http://www.iabs.net/Conference.aspx

Please don't hesitate to contact me on my regular email address -
mnssjab@management.bath.ac.uk, or the conference email address -
iabs2011@management.bath.ac.uk, if you have any queries.

I hope to see as many of you as possible in Bath next year,

    All the best,

    Steve Brammer
    Professor of Business & Society,
    University of Bath, UK.
