Opening AOM Governance to Create International Dialogue

    Saturday, Aug 8 2015 8:00AM - 9:30AM at Pan Pacific Vancouver in Gazebo 2

    Dear colleagues,

You're warmly invited to a PDW entitled "Opening AOM Governance to Create International Dialogue" at the AOM Meeting in Vancouver.

This PDW aims to create a dialogue among scholars of different nationalities and diverse training to talk about opening governance of the AoM to international perspectives. Internationalization is one of the areas of strategic intent for the Academy of Management. This PDW seeks to convene leaders and members of the AoM, and its affiliated and associated societies to seek a new definition of internationalisation, and to propose initiatives to open AoM leadership and governance to multiple international paradigms.

We will explore issues such as:

    1.       What does internationalization of the Academy mean?

    2.       What are the implications of internationalisation for research and researchers?

    3.       What would more open governance and leadership look like for the Academy?

The PDW will emphasize participation, examine cultural/national/regional lines of difference, explore removing barriers to participation (by providing insights into the current governance process, and starting a conversation about how this can be opened up), and also provide opportunities for positive member interactions (through a 'speed dating' style exercise).

We have a confirmed group of panelists from several of the academies affiliated or associated with the Academy of Management:

    • Travor Brown: Memorial University (Canada), Past President of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada
    • Julio de Castro: Instituto de Empresa (Spain), Past President of the Iberomerican Academy of Management
    • Luca Gnan: Tor Vergata University (Italy), President of the European Academy of Management
    • Jacky Holloway: Northampton Business School (UK), President of the British Academy of Management
    • Silvia Ines Monserrat Lluna: Universidad del Centro (Argentina), Chair of the International Theme Committee of the Academy of Management
    • Judy Muthuri: Nottingham University (UK), Membership Coordinator of the African Academy of Management
    • Lucrezia Songini: Bocconi University (Italy), Professor of Accounting

Do join us for this cross-national dialogue for internationalising and opening the Academy!
