  • 1.  New, award-winning case available - LaborVoices: Bringing Transparency to the Global Supply Chain

    Posted 10-22-2015 16:26

    Hello,

A bit of self-promotion here. If you are looking for a case for use in your social entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship, strategy, or business, government, and society classes, please consider adopting "LaborVoices: Bringing Transparency to the Global Supply Chain." The case, which Anne Lawrence, Chirag Amin, and I wrote, recently won the Curtis E. Tate, Jr. Award from the North American Case Research Association (NACRA). This award is given for the best case published in the prior year in the Case Research Journal.

The case is appropriate for use in multiple settings, depending on which aspects of the case you emphasize. It details the launch of a social enterprise, LaborVoices, so the case is applicable in entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship classes. I personally have used it in my business, government, and society classes to discuss global supply chains, stakeholder power, and the methods and limitations of current social audit practices in foreign factories. In my capstone strategy course, I use it to investigate business model selection while also discussing this relatively new type of business, the social enterprise.

The case is available through Harvard Business Publishing at:

    https://cb.hbsp.harvard.edu/cbmp/product/NA0327-PDF-ENG

    Cheers,

    Ron
