To all,
Many of you are either en route or packing for Philadelphia, with more of you making your way over the weekend. In this SIM program update, I'll note the all-important socials.
The joint Society for Business Ethics/SIM keynote address, by Jim Walsh of the University of Michigan, will be on Saturday at the Radisson Blu Warwick (220 South 17th Street) at 5:30 pm in the Grand Ballroom, followed by a reception in the Crystal Ballroom from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
On Sunday, there will be a SIM Salon-theme: words we should be using more in SIM research-at 6:30 pm in the Loews Philadelphia Hotel (Washington C), followed by a reception at 7:30 pm in Regency Ballroom C2. The SIM Salon is new this year, so come hear some interesting ideas in a casual setting and join us afterwards at the reception!
On Monday, the IABS (International Association for Business and Society; www.iabs.net) Board is sponsoring the SIM Morning Jumpstart session from 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the Regency Ballroom C1 of the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. Coffee, tea, juice, bagels and muffins will be provided. Stop by to learn more about IABS and its journal, Business and Society. If you're already a member of IABS, come by and bring a friend who's interested in joining IABS. If you want to learn more or become part of a friendly and supportive learning community of scholars who research and teach in the area of Business and Society, you need to be involved with the International Association for Business and Society (IABS). IABS is trying to grow by strengthening the emphasis it places on helping scholars develop and publish their research while maintaining the strong values of innovation, community and belonging that have always characterized the organisation. The members of the board can't wait to tell you about the 2015 IABS Conference in Costa Rica from March 12-15, 2015. The submission deadline is October 6, 2014 so you'll have plenty of time to prepare a 3-4 page abstract of your paper, discussion idea, symposium or workshop proposal.
The SIM Business Meeting will be on Monday from 4:45 pm to 6:30 pm in the Loews Philadelphia Hotel Commonwealth B, followed by the SIM Social in Commonwealth C from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
Finally, there will be another SIM Morning Jumpstart on Tuesday morning at 7:30 am in the Loews Philadelphia Hotel Regency C1.
One of the jobs of program chair is to serve as a catering manager, so I've ordered lots of food and drink for you. Please come to as many of these events as you can!
I'm looking forward to seeing many of you very soon.
Best,
Harry
