The SIM/ONE Junior Faculty Consortium (JFC) provides an opportunity for early career faculty undertaking research in the areas of Organizations and the Natural Environment or Social Issues in Management to engage with more senior scholars in the field. It will take place Saturday, August 04, 2012 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Marriott Copley Place, Boylston Room.

The goals of the session are two-fold: to provide junior faculty with an opportunity to meet other junior and senior scholars in the field plus to discuss issues salient to their current position. In a panel setting we will discuss issues such as navigating the review process; determining 'fit' between a paper and a journal; building a coherent research program in time for key evaluation milestones (like contract renewals or tenure decisions) plus getting ONE and SIM work placed in mainstream journals. After the panel there will be three rounds of "speed mentoring" where each junior faculty member will have individual/two-person sessions with three different senior faculty.  Please note that once junior faculty are accepted, they will be assigned individual mentors through a matching process on a first come-first served basis.  Therefore the earlier that your application arrives, the more likely you are to be matched with the senior faculty of your choice.  Materials for the matching will be sent out once you are accepted into the workshop.  Please see the program listing for the senior faculty who have committed to participating in this workshop.

    (see http://program.aomonline.org/2012/Session_Details.asp?print=true&SubmissionID=11933)

Please note that this is NOT a paper workshop. Both ONE and SIM are offering PDWs that address various types of manuscript developments issues.

Attendance is by application. We will give priority to those in the first 5 years of their employment as a faculty member or in a postdoctoral position and to those that did not attend last year. The session is being coordinated by Mark Sharfman and Stephanie Bertels. Applicants should email a current CV and a short bio of no more than 200 words that includes your research interests to msharfman@ou.edu. Acceptances will take place on a rolling basis with a final deadline of August 1, 2012.  Once you are accepted you will be sent the code required for registration.  There is no fee for the workshop besides the AOM PDW registration fee.

The Workshop is being sponsored through the generous support of the following:

The Beard Institute at Duquesne University

The Shoemaker Program in Business Ethics in the Smeal College of Business, The Pennsylvania State University

Puterbaugh Chair in American Enterprise, Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma
