I wanted to get the latest years of the KLD datasets.  All of my old contacts at KLD are gone because the firm was purchased by Riskmetrics which was in turn purchased by MSCI. As a result, it took me a while to track down how to update my KLD datasets.  I found someone who could give me a price on the 2009 "SCORES" (continuous version) of the data.  The price they gave me was reasonable but when I told them that my co-author at another school was going to pay for the data update, I was told that person would also have to pay the same fee.  The message is that from now on we will have to buy "site licenses" for use of the data and it only covers your school. If you are, for example, working with colleagues at say 2 other schools, each of the three of you has to pay for access to the data i.e. pay for it three times!!  Now KLD has always prohibited "redistribution" of the data but that was never designed to include bringing on a co-author.  It just meant I could not give someone the data for a project on which I was not involved.  Has anyone else run into this?  If so is my info correct?
