A colleague and I are in the middle of a revision where a reviewer questioned our use of the number of public affairs personnel (taken from the Directory of Corporate Public Affairs) as a part of scale of firm visibility to stakeholders.  I thought this was a pretty common indicator but after scouring all of the databases with which I am familiar, the only use of the measure I have found is in a Marcus and Iron piece on the growth of the public affairs function.  Is anyone familiar with studies that have used this measure in any form?  Please reply off list to Msharfman@ou.edu .

    Regards
