    Teaching and Research Associate (pre-doc/PhD student) position

    At WU Vienna, the Institute for International Business, academic unit Prof. Günter Stahl is currently inviting applications for a 30 hours/week Teaching and Research Associate position (pre-doc, employee subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; minimum gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 2,048.25, recognition of previous employment - if relevant to the advertised position - possible). This employee position will be limited to a period of 6 years, starting on September 1, 2017 (commencement date subject to change).

     

    Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Teaching and Research Associate is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. Applicants who are already employed at WU as substitute employees can therefore only be employed for the time remaining to complete the six-year period. Persons who have already been employed at WU in a Teaching and Research Associate position can only be re-employed in an Assistant Professor, tenure track position.

     

    Responsibilities:

    ·         You will be working on your own independent research activities (i.e. dissertation/PhD) and support current projects in a young, highly international and dynamic team of researchers around Prof. Stahl

    ·         You will focus on research areas that are close to the team's current research interests (see below)

    ·         You will have access to a large network of top researchers at WU and other universities such as INSEAD, London School of Economics, IESE, Copenhagen Business School, and universities in the United States

    ·         Your research might profit from several ongoing projects with large multinational corporations, non-profits, and NGOs that the institute maintains

    ·         WU currently offers a generous budget for travelling to international academic conferences in Europe and overseas where you are expected to present and discuss your research

    ·         You will be able to develop and teach one Bachelor-level course per semester

    ·         To some extent, you will also support other teaching and/or administrative activities at the institute including supervision of BA and MA theses

     

    Your Profile:

    ·         A Masters degree in business administration/management; potentially also in the field of psychology, economics or other relevant disciplines, completed with excellent success

    ·         A strong interest in the area of international business (particularly, cross-cultural management), corporate responsibility and sustainability, and/or migration and the changing nature of global work. The main research interest of the team is the grand societal challenges of today.

    ·         Fluent in English in both writing and speech and excellent communication skills

    ·         Research experience is a plus (e.g. experience as a research assistant at university)

    ·         Experience in writing grant proposals is a plus (but not a must)

    ·         Strong statistical skills (e.g. with SPSS, STATA or other stats programs)

    ·         German language skills are a plus

    ·         Professional experience (e.g. in a consulting firm or a multinational corporation) is a plus
