***APOLOGIES FOR CROSS POSTIING***
Friends,
Just a reminder that the NLS Conference & PDW on Homelessness & Helpfulness: What does Leadership have to Offer? is on August 8th & 9th, 2013. The event will be held at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, Salon A1. You can register for this event via the Academy of Management's PDW Registration site:
https://secure.aomonline.org/PDWReg/logon.asp
More details on the conference can be found at the NLS web site: http://nls.aom.org/
Program Highlights:
· August 8th, 2013: Program starts at 3 PM with a panel discussion featuring two practitioners directly involved in initiatives to alleviate homelessness (Gail Dorfman from Hennepin County, Minnesota & Cathy Jackson from Central Florida) and two academics with expertise in public leadership and cross-sector collaboration (Barbara Crosby from the University of Minnesota and Thomas Bryer from the University of Central Florida). John Bryson from the University of Minnesota will facilitate the panel discussion.
· August 9th, 2013: Utilizing the Design Thinking for Scholars framework, participants will address the challenge of building cross sector collaboration to address homelessness in our communities.
· Breakfast and lunch on August 9th is included.
· We will recognize the Americorps VISTA volunteers who have spent the past year working on K-12 Homeless Education issues during lunch on August 9th.
This is the Network of Leadership Scholars' yearly cross-sector collaboration event and a continuation of the 2012 Strategic Doing initiative. The main objective of this PDW is to provide Academy Members from different divisions with the opportunity to work together with practitioners, government representatives and other stakeholders, to deploy research and scholarly knowledge for the purpose of homelessness alleviation.
Hope to see many of you on August 8th at the event.
Best wishes,
--Nagaraj
