    Dear SIMians,

Thank you so much for your participation and support at this year's Academy of Management conference in Atlanta.  I hope you all had a meaningful time and came away inspired and motivated for the upcoming academic year.  For me, it was a completely enjoyable and rewarding experience.  Our program had 42 paper and symposium sessions that spanned a variety of topics and theories within the business and society domain.  As I floated among most of these sessions, I was gratified by the quality of the presentations and discussions.  For that, I extend my gratitude.

Your feedback is always welcome.  Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes for a successful start to the next semester.

  • 4.  Thank you, SIMians!

    Dear friends of SIM,

As you all head home and return to your workplaces, I wanted to reach out to thank you for a stimulating and rewarding Academy of Management Conference in Chicago.  SIM had a record number of submissions both for the main program, but also for the Professional Development Workshops.  Our program was diverse and interesting and involved participation from many other divisions and interest groups.  On behalf of the SIM Executive Committee, I hope you all had a great experience and will carry the energy of the conference with you all year.  Thanks to all of our members for presenting and participating in our sessions.  I want to also thank our reviewers and session chairs for the important service you do for us.  Without all of you, this meeting is not possible.

I want to recognize the fine work done by our organizers and leadership committee.  Thanks to Jill Brown for generating a fantastic Division program.  Our paper and symposium sessions were of great quality and very well received.  She constructed a set of sessions that represented a comprehensive portrait of the SIM domain and research streams.  Thanks also to Andy Wicks for creating a wonderful pre-program with many interesting PDWs that covered research, pedagogy, and professional development.  Please know that these two did an immense amount of work to develop our SIM program.  We should also be grateful to Doug Schuler for leading us this year as Division Chair.  His support and leadership through this year is much appreciated by all of us.  And, thanks to Jamie Hendry for her role as Past Division Chair.

Finally, a special thanks to Harry Van Buren for his continued dedication to the Social Issues Division.  He served us with his support and advice all year.

Best to all of you for a successful academic year.  We look forward to seeing you in Boston next August.  In the meantime, we will be updating you all with news and information about our division.

    Sincerely,

    David Wasieleski
