Description
The PALUMBO DONAHUE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION at DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management, beginning fall, 2016. We seek candidates whose primary teaching/research interests intersect with sustainability, ethics and/or social entrepreneurship. Secondary areas of interest could include international management, business strategy and/or leadership/organizational behavior.
Responsibilities include scholarship and a base teaching load of six (3-3 load) classes per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels (though a reduced load is typical for new professors).
The School's strategic plan includes sustainability principles, business ethics and an entrepreneurial mindset as learning themes for all students. We also intend to further develop centers of excellence in these areas that would be housed in renovated facilities, serve as a bridge to the vibrant business community in Pittsburgh, develop educational innovations and support faculty research. We already house a top-ranked sustainability-focused MBA program (please see: www.duq.edu/academics/schools/business/graduate/mba-sustainability), an ethics institute that will be launching an IABS-sponsored book series, and an entrepreneurial studies program on the move. For instance, we are recruiting to fill our new Merle E. Gilliand Professorship in Entrepreneurial Finance for fall, 2016 and house a well-regarded Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serving hundreds of entrepreneurs and offering opportunities for students (please see: www.sbdc.duq.edu).
Required Attributes
Applicants should have earned (or anticipate by August 2016) a Ph.D. in a management-related area (e.g., entrepreneurship, ethics, international business, organizational behavior, strategy). . Also required is either an established or emerging record of performance in teaching and scholarship. Scholarship should target high quality peer-reviewed publications in management-related journals. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a collegial and collaborative orientation and be willing to contribute to the growth and development of our programmatic efforts in sustainability, management, ethics and/or entrepreneurship.
Desired Attributes
Practitioner experience in areas of primary or secondary interest is desirable. Also desirable is experience with graduate teaching, online instruction and/or executive education. We also welcome applicants with a track record of or interest in conducting interdisciplinary scholarship. Finally, experience teaching to diverse audiences is a plus.
