Dear Fellow SIMians,
I hope you were able to complete those submissions for the Vancouver meeting on time and in proper format, and I wish you the best of luck as the review and decision process unfolds for the 2015 program. In the meantime, you'll soon receive a call for nominations for various open positions on the SIM leadership team. I hope you'll consider these opportunities to help run SIM. We can only advance through volunteer efforts like yours, so please do consider getting involved.
One particular open position I want to draw your attention to is SIM Webmaster. This position was recently vacated and Jegoo Lee, SIM Secretary, has kindly agreed to fill in as Webmaster until we elect a new SIMian to this vital role. Might you be that new SIMian? Or might you know someone who would serve well in this role? One of our aims is to have SIM serve the membership in more depth, beyond just the one week in August of the annual meeting. The website is at the core of this effort. It is such a vital position that we recently revised the SIM Constitution to make it an elected, not appointed position, and to place the Webmaster on the SIM Governance Committee. In sum, it's a core leadership position, and if we can get the right person in place, can help transform the way that SIM serves its members. So please, please, please consider it, or at least consider who you might nominate.
Best,
Mike
Chair, SIM Division
PS: You'll also hear from us soon, asking for your vote about a revised SIM domain statement. Please respond! This is something that has been in works for years, and was recently approved by AOM, and now just needs your final approval.
