    Dear Fellow SIMians,

The 2015 meeting of the Academy of Management is coming soon! It'll be a very busy meeting. You're surely getting dozens of emails already about PDWs, symposia, paper sessions, and social events that will be of interest to you, from across AOM. Within SIM, we of course have a terrific program that we urge you to participate in fully. You can access the full program online here: http://program.aom.org/2015/subMenu.asp?mode=setmenu&menuid=14, and our Program Chair, Jamie Hendry, will share more details with you soon.

I write to draw your attention to a few specific events:

    -          SIM Annual Plenary (session #1164): On Monday, Aug. 10th, 11:30am-1pm, in the Pinnacle Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel, Cordova Ballroom, we'll hold our annual plenary. Of course you'll be there, because the whole point of a plenary is that no other event will be occurring within SIM Division at this time. Right?? This is the 3rd year of the plenary system at AOM, and I think we've finally gotten the structure right. In it, I will present my SIM Division Chair Address, entitled, "Mind: the gap" (hint: it's about stakeholder cognition). Then, our prior year's Sumner Marcus Award honoree, Barry Mitnick, will present "Practical Plagiarism: Seeping, Strolling, Shopping, Stealing, and Supinity in the Academy" (bigger hint: it's about how ideas travel among scholars). Thereafter, our Division Chair-Elect, Harry Van Buren, will serve as discussant, and then open it up for broader discussion. Please let me know what you think about the overall structure (combining Div Chair address, SMA honoree address, and overseen by incoming Div Chair), as well as the actual content. We'll tweak until we get it right.

    -          SIM Division Business Meeting (session #1501): On Monday, Aug. 10th, 4:45pm-6:15pm, in the Pinaccle Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel, Ballroom II,III, I look forward to hosting you for our annual business meeting. Sure, as the title indicates, we'll get down to business, and quickly, so do arrive on time. But please do arrive, because everyone should be a part of the Division's business. We'll have reports from all the various Division leaders about what they've been up to, and we also have time for other members to share with everyone any new business. Perhaps more excitingly, we'll announce all the finalists and winners of the Division's various awards. So please do come and share in the excitement! But please consider doing some homework first. Another thing we do is elect two new members to the important Nominating Committee – this is the committee that puts together the slate of candidates for leadership roles. Please come to the Business Meeting having thought about whether or not you're willing to serve on this important committee, or if not, who you might nominate to serve (hint: anyone you nominate must be willing to serve, so please discuss with that person first). Doing this homework first will help the meeting to go much more smoothly and quickly.

    -          SIM Social Gathering (session #1539): Immediately following the Business Meeting, and in the same room (On Monday, Aug. 10th, 4:45pm-6:15pm, in the Pinaccle Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel, Ballroom II,III), we'll hold our Social. It's the place to be; to grab a drink, a bit€ to eat, and to meet up with fellow SIMians in a relaxed (though noisy) environment. So stick around for this! Also, if you were kind enough to serve as a reviewer or associate editor for this year's program, I'll be bringing along a little thank-you gift for you.

    -          CANCELLED: SIM Welcome Reception (#810): PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE HELD. It's not that we don't want to welcome you, but you'll already be well-welcomed by that time. More to the point, we just didn't figure out good content for this one, so we decided not to hold it. So now you can catch a repeat of The Simpsons on TV instead. But we're still holding the SIM Salon (immediately prior) – Harry Van Buren will be sharing those details with you soon.

Much to do! Hope to see you at all these things, and many, many more.

    Best,

    Mike
