Howdy SIMians. A couple things to draw your attention to as you consider how to spend your time at Disney World:

    1)      SIM Plenary. Don't leave too early!  On Tuesday, Aug 13, from 1130am-1pm, in Coronado R,S,T, we have the SIM Plenary.  This is a new feature of the program. During this time, SIM has no other activities (hence, plenary). So we're hoping we've done away with any valid excuse to not be in attendance!  We'll focus on "How to make SIM matter more", and we really want your input. We'll start off with the traditional Division Chair's  address. Virginia Gerde will provide her take on why SIM needs to matter more. The program chair (that's me) will then follow with a presentation on how SIM can matter more. Then, and this is where you come in, our Immediate Past Division Chair, Shawn Berman, will lead an open discussion on how to move forward. Our intent is to come up with actionable items that we can pursue and track, year to year, so that we can achieve our aim of mattering more.

    2)      SIM Division Business Meeting & Social. Monday, Aug 12, from 5-6:30pm, in Coronado Fiesta 6, we'll have our annual business meeting. It's an open meeting, and we seek maximum participation. You'll hear reports on what the division has been up to, but also we need your input and we need your nominations and votes for new members of various committees.  So please join us for the meeting and, immediately after, for our Division Social – same locale, 6:30-9pm.  Catering ain't cheap in the Magic Kingdom, so come eat & drink all the bounty we've coughed up the cash for, and mingle with your fellow SIMians!

    3)      SIM Tracks. I've broken down the program into a day-by-day timeline, and the papers into four tracks.  You've received an announcement or two about this already. In addition to the postings of the tracks in those sites, you can find the tracks here, too: http://sim.aomonline.org/

    4)      Travel Time. As our PDW chair, Harry Van Buren has pointed out, Walt Disney World is, in fact, not a small world after all. Our conference hotel (Coronado), where most of our activities are held, is a fair distance from the other conference hotels. By some combo of boats, buses, and trains, you can get to the other conference hotels, but it could take a while.  Here's a map of the shuttles: http://aom.org/uploadedFiles/Meetings/annualmeeting/Registration/BUS%20SCHEDULE%202013.pdf
