SIM Logo Contest & More

    Dear SIMians,

We need a snazzy SIM logo. Can you help? Let's have a contest!  By October 15th, please send me (mbarnett@business.rutgers.edu) your best rendering of a proposed SIM logo. The SIM Executive Committee will select a set of finalists from all submissions, and then we'll have the SIM membership vote for their favorites. It ought to contain SIM or Social Issues in Management somewhere within it, and no nudity or profanity (unless done in a surprisingly artsy way). Whatever you submit must be entirely your original work, and you must transfer full ownership of it to SIM Division. In exchange, you'll receive fame, but not fortune; we'll thank you profusely, probably even make a nice plaque for you; but there'll be no money. You'll get to see it displayed everywhere, and know what an awesome job you did. I'm told that promotion and tenure committees count this heavily (but people often lie to me). So please help us out!

You might have noticed that we have a snazzy new SIM Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/simdivision.  It's a great way to continue discussions about all things SIMian. But you know what: it's absolutely useless unless you contribute. Several people have started various discussion threads. And then the threads have died a boring death. Please check out the site; look at the various threads. Chime in. Create new threads. Make it yours. Or watch it die a slow death of boredom. Your choice. Hint: I strongly advocate for the former.

And Twitter: yes, we have that, too!  @aom_sim.  Same deal. I think you're going to get bored of me being the only one posting on there; a few others have kindly chimed in from time to time. But if you don't respond to tweets, start threads, etc., we'll be trending to nowhere fast.

In sum: SIM is yours; make it yours. Keep it alive, beyond one hot & hectic week in early August each year.

    Best,

    Mike
