Hi, this seems particularly relevant for our division. I know that Sandra Waddock helped to co-ordinate an all academy symposium looking at the UN Global Compact, and I know others have looked at their work...so anyway, I wanted to be sure to pass this on!! kathy

    Subject: United Nations Collaboration

    Dear Kathleen Rehbein:

Building on the theme for this year's Annual Meeting of the Academy of
Management - "Knowledge, Action, and the Public Concern" - the Academy
received an exciting opportunity to work with the United Nations Global
Compact (UNGC). The Academy of Management will be co-sponsoring a unique
Forum, to be held October 23-25, 2006 at Case Western Reserve University,
on "Business as an Agent of World Benefit: Management Knowledge Leading
Positive Change." The Forum will bring together leading management
scholars and exceptional students with UNGC members who are business
executives, civil-society leaders and government policy makers from around
the world. The Forum presents a unique opportunity to raise the visibility
of management research as an important contributor to solutions to the
21st century's most pressing global challenges.

Without good people, no conference can succeed. As a leader within the
Academy of Management, we would like your help in identifying colleagues
from your division (and beyond) who are doing particularly interesting and
important work in this area. We need your help in making sure that the
"best of the Academy" is included.

For an overview of the Forum, including a description of the types of
sessions that will be held, please visit the Forum website at
http://www.bawbglobalforum.org. To suggest particular scholars, research,
or types of sessions, please contact Professor Nancy Adler at McGill
University (nancy.adler@mcgill.ca) or Professor David Cooperrider at Case
Western Reserve University (dlc6@weatherhead.cwru.edu) who are serving as
the Forum co-chairs on our behalf. For general questions, contact Ante
    Glavas at (bawbforum2006@case.edu) or 216-368-2160.

We look forward to hearing from you and to receiving your suggestions. We
also ask that you post a link to the conference or your division's
website, distribute this message via your division's newsletter and
listserv, and help encourage attendance at this important collaborative
initiative with the United Nations. This is an important opportunity for
Academy members' research to have the visibility and impact it deserves in
    the world.

    Yours sincerely,

    Thomas G. Cummings
