Hi SIMians,
So that you can make your hotel arrangements, I am writing to let
everyone know that SIM sessions will be held in the Loews
Philadelphia Hotel (in front of the Convention Center). However,
please note that not ALL sessions of interest to SIM members will be
held there. We will have some papers in Interactive Paper sessions,
some Visual papers, and quite a few symposia that are joint symposia
with other divisions. Some of our symposia were also accepted as
Showcase and All Academy Symposia. So, to take full advantage of the
SIM program you will likely be moving among hotels. We have a great
program planned. It's at the proofreading stage so you'll be seeing it soon.
One innovation is that, for SIM paper sessions, I have assigned a
facilitator (instead of a chair and/or discussant). Facilitators
will know who they are soon and I will be writing the facilitators
separately. But, I'd like everyone to know that these facilitators
will do more to "facilitate" discussion among the authors and the
audience rather than just offer their own comments. Hopefully, that
will make all SIM sessions more interactive.
