We have two scenic campuses-one in the Hayward Hills overlooking San Francisco Bay and the other in the Concord foothills of Mt. Diablo-plus a professional center in dynamic downtown Oakland. The two campuses' proximity to the major Bay Area cities provides unique cultural opportunities including museums, art galleries, aquariums, planetariums, plays, musicals, sports events, and concerts.     DUTIES OF THE POSITIONS:   At least one candidate will be hired to teach and conduct research in human resource management and/or industrial/employee relations.  Ability to teach employment law, industrial/employee relations, and human resources information systems are desirable. Primary teaching responsibilities will be for graduate and undergraduate courses in the above areas. Please note that teaching assignments at
    <st1:place><st1:placename>California</st1:placename> <st1:placetype>State</st1:placetype> <st1:placetype>University</st1:placetype></st1:place>, <st1:place><st1:placename>East</st1:placename> <st1:placetype>Bay</st1:placetype></st1:place> include courses at both the <st1:city><st1:place>Hayward</st1:place></st1:city> and <st1:city><st1:place>Concord</st1:place></st1:city> campuses.  Research responsibilities include developing an active research program in human resource management and related scholarly activities. In addition to teaching and research, all faculty have responsibilities for advising, for assisting the department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities.

     

    RANK <st1:stockticker>AND</st1:stockticker> SALARY:   Open rank. Salary and rank are dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization. 

     

    DATE OF APPOINTMENT:  Anticipated Fall 2008 but negotiable depending on the availability of the candidates.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in human resource management, industrial relations, employee relations, organizational behavior or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution by start of employment.  Additional professional experience relevant to the field is a desirable plus. The candidates must demonstrate teaching excellence in the designated areas and an ability to teach, advise and mentor a culturally and educationally diverse student body and have research accomplishments that are commensurate with the rank of appointment.
