Faculty Position in Strategic Management
The Department of Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position in Strategic Management at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to begin fall semester 2016.
The Department of Management consists of 20 full-time faculty members with an impressive range of research and teaching expertise in all areas of management. We encourage intellectual discussions that cut across traditional research areas. We expect and support our faculty to actively engage in high quality research that is publishable in top outlets thereby contributing to our research mission. Current faculty in the area of Strategy have published in top quality journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Management Science, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Research Policy, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, among others.
Candidates should have: (1) a doctorate in Management or a related field (or be in the final states of completing such a doctorate) with a specialization in Strategic Management from an AACSB accredited school, (2) a strong program of scholarly research consistent with the rank applied for, and (3) instructional capabilities at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research and teaching in strategy, and secondary research and teaching interest in entrepreneurship, technology and innovation, or international business is also desirable.
The position will be in Blacksburg, which is located near the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Trail. Blacksburg's beauty and temperate climate is attractive to many. A 2011 study by Business Week ranks Blacksburg as # 1 place in America to raise children. Blacksburg also has high quality schools (K-12) as well as a relatively low cost of living.
