We are excited to announce a new Call for Papers in Project Management Journal (in connection to European Academy of Management Conference 2024) that may be of great interest to many of you.
The call is titled: Joint Value Creation With Nonmarket Stakeholders in Unwanted Projects
Large-scale projects, whether in the realms of industry, infrastructure, mega events, biotech, or space and deep-sea exploration, serve as the backbone of societal progress. However, they frequently traverse a tumultuous path, giving rise to controversy and often classifying as 'unwanted' in the eyes of nonmarket stakeholders, who typically stand to benefit the most from these endeavors.
Unwanted projects often carry inherent negative externalities, impeding their full value creation potential. Effectively addressing these negative externalities and facilitating value creation for nonmarket stakeholders necessitates deliberate engagement and enfranchisement within the project's joint value creation processes. Yet, it's essential to acknowledge that nonmarket stakeholders are often marginalized in practice, and their successful engagement, particularly their enfranchisement, poses significant challenges.
This special issue focuses on topics at the intersection of unwanted projects, nonmarket stakeholders, stakeholder engagement and enfranchisement, and joint value creation.
