AOM Panel Symposium "Corruption in the Global Economy at a Tipping Point: How to Identify and Mitigate Corrupt Practices"

    What is corruption?

What is the role of corporations in corruption?

How is corporate corruption linked to power-building?

Why is there a tipping-point of corruption in the global economy?

How and why can a sensemaking perspective help to identify and mitigate corruption in the global economy?

What are risks for the emergence of corruption across analytical levels?

If you are curious to discuss these questions with us, then please join us for our symposium at the Academy of Management Meeting on Tuesday, August 13th, 11:30-13:00 at Mariott, room: "Great America 2".

Hosted by James K. (Jim) Hazy (Adelphi University, New York), and featuring panelists Armando Castro (University College, London), Stefan Schembera (Radboud University, Netherlands), Suzana B. Rodrigues(Universidade FUMEC, Brazil & Erasmus University, NL) and Benyamin Lichtenstein (University of Massachusetts, Boston), the aim of this symposium is to propose a research agenda on how to mitigate and fight corruption as a worldwide economic threat. Our approach is based on an emerging common definition and description of corruption drawn from the Panelists. We start from the assumption that corruption is a system problem – whether in a small company, a large corporation, or a governmental agency - and offer ways to reduce corruption that are especially useful for managers who face difficult choices that carry corruption risk.

Looking forward to connect with you in Chicago!
